Climate protection and the preservation of our vehicles

XS-Laden Harald Geppert

Hello dear XSers!

at the XS store we are rooted in our culture and therefore we are completely apolitical. Above all different ways of thinking and cultural influences, we all have a common interest in preserving our classic motorcycles. We try not to be burdened with extreme views and wherever possible do not support states that restrict human rights or even violate human rights.
Nevertheless, it is time to take a position, as the future of all of us is at stake. It is undisputed that climate change is progressing. Unfortunately, there is now a mood against piston engines (or all combustion engines), which I can no longer understand.

Here, too, the basics in advance: It doesn't matter whether it's electro mobility, hydrogen technology, gas vehicles, bicycles, etc. or vehicles that are operated with combustion engines - none of this is bad and each concept has its purpose. For example, if inner cities are to become emission-free, electric vehicles are needed. However, the principle is that you should save CO². To do this, it is necessary for each individual to pay attention to their personal CO² balance. As a concerned citizen, you now open the CO² calculator of the Federal Environment Agency and are amazed to find that only behavior is evaluated here, but not, for example, the purchase of a new car with an electric motor - is there no CO² produced during production? But, strictly speaking, so much CO² is generated within a few production hours that I can ride all my motorcycles until the end of my life - without reaching this amount. In order to evaluate the whole thing, you don't need a doctorate in physics, rather one in macroeconomics....

In order to actually protect the climate and the environment, it is necessary to use all the things that have already been manufactured for as long as possible. The industry would also have to adapt and instead of laying off workers in the course of the switch to electro mobility, it would have to take care of the maintenance of the approx. 59,000,000 vehicles that are registered in Germany alone - or are there plans to dispose of these vehicles? There are around 1,3 billion vehicles worldwide.
Instead of constantly supporting the industry, there should be a campaign for the repair and maintenance of all existing equipment. This starts with small, electrically operated devices and our vehicles through to construction projects. The real climate saver repairs!
It is important for us to switch from fossil fuels to regenerative and synthetic fuels in a timely manner. Then a combustion engine will also run in a climate-neutral manner and the existing infrastructure can also be used without any changes. Unfortunately, calculations are also published here that only consider sub-areas such as efficiency or even worse - they work with ideology and/or populism - see 'tank instead of plate'. For brief information: Bio fuels can be made from sewage sludge, fungal grain and other bio waste (see Fraunhofer Institute etc.). Like our fossil fuel, synthetic fuels are hydrocarbon compounds. That means a mixture of hydrogen and CO². For more information, see efuel-today.com, for example. In this way, all vehicles, whether old or new, can be used in a climate-friendly manner with all existing systems without any changes.
